What is Scientific Network?
The Network of Scientists for Food Safety is a project coordinated by the Chilean Agency for food Safety and Quality (ACHIPIA) and is meant to form teams of experts for carrying out assessments regarding food risks according to the national context and to strengthen the handling of food risks in our country. In addition, it will improve existing skills, detect needs and create new competences in those areas essential in the subjects involved.
This project is designed to support the national safety policy, by focusing on scientific and professionals’ contribution. With the Web site as a complement, the scientific community becomes an organization, information and communication system through which many experts from different areas regarding food safety can interact.
Professors, Researchers, Public and Private Sector Professionals and International Entities that make up this Network will be able to analyze and to work on the most important cases that may be harmful to customers’ health, nationally and internationally. Based on this purpose, the main task of the “Expert groups” will be to consult the Agency by providing a scientific basis for handling all matters within their competence and to make knowledge management easier.
The virtual platform for the Network will be the most important tool for the community, by being a user-friendly site with different functions that allow Chile to have an innovator system of scientific communication concerning food issues.
